To all of our families, friends, and clients:

With another hurricane season almost in the record books, I believe that it is safe to say that we are all breathing a bit easier, and what a difference a few months makes.  There is little question in my mind that New Orleans is on the mend.

This summer brought about some shining examples of the strength and resiliency of our community.  The 18th annual New Orleans International Piano Competition is a terrific example.  Held once again at Loyola University’s Rousell Hall, this years contestants were some of the most exciting, fresh young talent assembled anywhere.  There were many friends that we have not seen since last years competition, so naturally, the conversation briefly focused on the personal impact of the storm on our families, our  homes or businesses.  But then, after the almost obligatory conversation regarding these topics, the conversation shifted to the reason for the gathering; piano talent and lots of it.

To all of our families, friends, and clients:

We are now nine months past the worst disaster our community has faced in recent times, and in our opinion, the worst disaster that our country has seen in a generation. Arguably, many of us thought that our beloved city would be progressing more rapidly in its recovery efforts.  However, in Katrina’s wake, we have endured endless battles with insurance adjusters, FEMA representatives, long lines at the grocery, unreliable contractors and repair people, one of the most controversial and heated election seasons, difficulty in finding workers, this list could go on and on.  Yet, we still press on.

At some point, we have all had to ask ourselves, ”what are we fighting for exactly?”  This answer is different for many of our old friends and for our new friends that we have made since the storm.  However, there are a few consistent themes that seem to be universal, such as our love for our city’s rich heritage, our family traditions, and New Orleans’ culinary excellence.  All of these are important, however, the one rallying point that everyone seems to agree upon is our commitment to do what is necessary, regardless of how hard it may be, to do what we can to ensure that this will never  happen to us again.

A note to all of our families, friends, and clients:

We are now three weeks past the worst disaster our community has faced in recent times, and in our opinion, the worst disaster that our country has seen in a generation.  The toll on our community will not be fully realized for quite some time.  As our concern for the safety and well being of our families, staff and friends has been satisfied with reports of their safe evacuations, we must now return to our beloved city and begin the process of rebuilding our homes, businesses and lives.

While Hall Piano Co was spared the wrath of hurricane Katrina’s destructive winds and water, we know that many of our friends homes and businesses were not so fortunate.  We feel blessed that, with the exception of a few minor inconveniences, Hall Piano Co will be fully operational beginning September 19th, 2005 to serve our existing clients and our community.
