It is hard to imagine that half of 2008 has already elapsed and that we are just a few weeks away from the 20th Annual New Orleans International Piano Competition, yet here we are.

I am filled with pride looking back over the past few months here at Hall Piano Company in that we have continued to challenge the notion that Hall Piano Company is "just another retailer" in our city. We have continued to provide and support educational, cultural, and entertainment opportunities unparalleled by most "ordinary retailers."

Hall Piano Company is celebrating our 50th Anniversary this year and what a year it will be. There are many exciting events that are scheduled for this upcoming year, so I invite you to check our calendar of events on a regular basis for upcoming items of interest to lovers of music and the piano.

Johnny and I have just returned from the N.A.M.M. Show ’08 (National Association of Music Merchants) and what an exciting trip it was. Our trip began with another nomination from Steinway & Sons for “Partners in Performance” for 2007. This incredible honor is given to dealers that exemplify the commitment to client service in eight areas of consideration. This is the second consecutive year that Hall Piano Company has received such recognition from the builder of the World’s Finest Piano, Steinway & Sons.

National Medal of Arts Award Presented to Henry Z. Steinway

It is my great pleasure to notify you that Henry Z. Steinway has been chosen to receive the prestigious National Medal of Arts Award from the National Endowment of the Arts, which was established by Congress in 1984 to recognize long standing service to our nation by distinguished individuals in the field of culture and the arts.

Henry along with his wife Polly, will be receiving this Medal of Arts Award today in a presentation ceremony in the East Room of the White House hosted by President and Mrs. Bush.

2007 has been a very exciting year for the arts in New Orleans, and Hall Piano Company is pleased to announce another great partner in the arts, the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz. This world renown conservatory for jazz studies has decided to move their home base of operations from Los Angeles to New Orleans. I am sure, that I speak for most New Orleanians when I say that there is no better place for such an esteemed organization to call home than the birth place of Jazz. On behalf of everyone here at Hall Piano Company, and the great city of New Orleans, Welcome.

It is with great excitement today that I announce that Steinway & Son’s of New York, Hall Piano Company of Metairie, and The Musical Arts Society of New Orleans have entered into an official partnership making Steinway Pianos the Official Piano of the New Orleans International Piano Competition as well as the New Orleans Piano Institute. Hall Piano Company has been exclusively providing pianos as well as technical services for these events since 2004, however, having Steinway & Son’s of New York as partners in this sponsorship will enable us to offer additional concert pianos from the famed New York Steinway Concert Artist basement for the participants to use during the competition performances and support activities.
